Welcome to VDO Quilters. We are a collective of creative people who reside at Valle Del Oro Resort in Mesa, Arizona. Individuals of all skill levels are welcome to participate provided you are a VDO resident. We have a fully equipped sewing room and offer classes and special events. We support Project Linus and Quilts for Veterans.

Join us Monday mornings (November to March) at 9:00 am in the Fiesta Room for Show & Tell. Bring your completed projects to show the group, see others’ completed projects and learn about upcoming classes, challenges, demonstrations, events and outings.

 

Sewing Room Hours

November to March

Monday – 1 to 4pm and 6:30 to 8:30pm

Tuesday & Wednesday – 9am to noon, 1 to 4pm and 6:30 to 8:30pm

Thursday & Friday – 9am to noon and 1 to 4pm

Name tags must be worn. No foods or beverages other than bottled water.

The Sewing Room is scent free.

Advisory Board

The sewing room is governed by an Advisory Board consisting of room coordinator, assistant room coordinator, monitor coordinator, treasurer, secretary, equipment manager and advisory board assistant.

The Advisory Board meets the second Monday of each month, November thru March to discuss implementation of improvements to the sewing room.

Monitors

Coordinator:  Val Sheppard

When the sewing room is open during scheduled days/hours, monitors are there to assist sewers and make sure sewing room guidelines are follows.

Duties of the monitors:

  • Greet each person arriving
  • Check to see if/what help is needed
  • Assist students in classes
  • Ensure machines are used properly
  • Check equipment out/in to users

Machine Maintenance

Coordinators:  Colleen Hamling and Carla Curtis

The equipment manager and the assistant oversee all equipment is serviced annually, do small repairs as necessary, manage inventory and prepare a list of inventory items needed to be included in the annual budget.  In addition, a monthly usage tally is kept on each machine to track hours used.

There are 17 sewing machines available for use which include 4 Bernina, 5 Pfaff, and 8 Janome.  In addition, there is a serger,  a Brother embroidery machine and an AccuQuilt cutter.  Note the inventory may be different due to ongoing updates/changes.
